HISTORY: Fair warnings for spoilers and honestly pretty questionable grammar

APPEARANCE: guns n roses

ABILITIES: As a Valentine, Elphelt has incredible magical ability and output. She is capable of feats beyond humans in terms of strength, durability, and dexterity. We don't see her use direct energy-based attacks much like her sisters do, but she's still considered just as powerful as they are, and is chosen by the Universal Will to be the one to become the new Justice.

She also has access to a special set of magical weapons called the "Cyrus Project - Valis System". Elphelt's four guns, plus a grenade, the ammunition (concussive, non fatal) for such is produced via her own magic. The unnamed pistol is semi-automatic, mostly short ranged, and hasn't much stopping power. Miss Travailler is a tactical shotgun, short ranged, capable of wide bursting blasts. Miss Confire is a long range sniper rifle capable of heavy damage. Miss Genoise is a bazooka, capable launching explosive, area-of-effect damaging magical projectiles, but cannot be used unless she has plentiful magical energy to put into it. The Pineberry is a strawberry shaped "grenade" that has a short timer on it, and bursts in a small area. In addition to the magic concussive rounds she uses with the Valis System, she also has a special bullet she designed herself called the "Magnum Wedding" that can be fired through Miss Confire. It makes her target temporarily become lovesick and unable to fight, but doesn't actually damage anyone beyond that. All of these are non-fatal.

SUITABILITY: In truth, the world of Guilty Gear and its characters are Very Anime so Elphelt is not subject to a lot of what we'd think of as traditional horror, but as a Valentine she is exposed in canon to the idea of losing her own agency and becoming a tool to someone else's dark intentions. That sort of existential horror is something known to her, and something she struggles with, and likely will have trauma associated with it well into the rest of her life.

Aside from that, there is plenty of t-rated anime violence in the Guilty Gear games (it IS a fighting game, after all) but not really any legitimate gore or other physical horror. She also has experience with the "Nightmare on Elm Street" inspired villain Bedman, and the fear associated with him.

As a final note, in the finale of Xrd -SIGN-, Elphelt attempts suicide via self destruction, having despaired at the fact that she was forced to betray the friends and loved ones she'd made over the course of her journey. In terms of fear, this idea of being hated for something she's done is something that comes up a lot and will be detailed later in the personality questionnaire. Traditional horror elements will definitely spook her, but the real trauma will come mostly from psychological matters like that.

PERSONALITY.

● Your character has a chance to undo a terrible mistake, but in doing so, there could be unintended consequences for everyone they know. Is it worth the risk? Or should the dead stay dead? (Hint: Who is dead?)

Elphelt has two major things that stick out in her personality; compassion and stubbornness. There is no doubt that one only would she take that chance, she'd stubbornly fight every consequence she could to try and ensure a happy ending for everyone, even at the cost of her own self. In canon, while she's not *aware* that the merging of Jack-O and Justice would resurrect Aria, the woman she is ostensibly a clone of, she would absolutely fight to do so.

"Dead should stay dead" isn't really something she even thinks about. If Ramlethal, Sin, or any one else she loves or care for were to perish, and she was presented with a means of bringing them back, she'd take it. If nothing else, she likely wouldn't even really consider the consequences initially, and deal with them with the same stubborn optimism she shows elsewhere down the line, or failing that, fight them tooth or nail. For the people she loves, there's not a whole lot of lengths she is not willing to go to.

So yeah, she'd do it. If it was Ramlethal, Sin, Sol. Hell even if it was someone she didn't even know that well. Her compassion extends so thoroughly. Given a chance to do something like this, she'd take it. Maybe if the consequences were severe enough, she'd be hesitant to do it a second time, but even then.

● If your character had the option to permanently lose the ability to feel certain negative emotions like fear or grief, or permanently forget certain memories, would they take it? What if they will never know that something has been taken from them? Does loss only matter if it's known what's missing?

She gives a whole speech about how even painful memories are precious in the game, so she probably wouldn't give up any of her memories. Even the time she was forced to betray everyone stands out in her mind mostly for how it was resolved, in the end, though she was desperately afraid everyone would hate her. If anything, she'd like to lose how damagingly self-conscious she can be, but she'd probably talk herself out of it in the end. After all, what reason would she have to improve if she wasn't criticizing herself?

So yeah, she'd pass on the situation, ultimately. Hell, even in her highly romanticized imaginations of potential wedded bliss, she constantly takes the good with the bad. She sees even situations wrought with hardship and strife, so long as there's love somewhere, as something worth idealizing towards and striving for. Good memories, bad memories, good emotions, negative emotions, she feels like it's all part of the same wonderful soup. She will gladly take it all, so long as she has an opportunity to work towards a happy ending. What that happy ending might wind up being ultimately doesn't matter.

She has no desire to change herself, or her memories. All of it, good or bad, is precious to her.

● Could your character ever forgive themselves for something morally wrong that they've done? No matter how much time has passed? No matter how much penitence has been done? Is being sorry enough to be a good person?

Elphelt legitimately has likely not forgiven herself for the forced betrayal mentioned earlier, even if in the end her sister, Ramlethal, stopped her suicide attempt and Sol swore he'd save her in the end. Elphelt doesn't have to worry about her friends and loved ones hating her, but that's still something she carries with her, always. And it's likely that no matter how many times she's forgiven for it, it will be a long time before she is able to face herself on the matter.

And it's not an exaggeration that everyone involved has forgiven her, especially those most impacted by it. Sol wasn't angry at her, even for a moment. There was a general understanding among the heroes that Elphelt wasn't given a choice in the matter. Her agency had been taken away, violated by her mother in the aim of eliminating "redundancies" from the world. Repeatedly, in fact, her agency is taken from her and she's forced into situations where she's hurting others.

But El carries all of those with her, heavily, like a cross on her back. It just pushes on her conscience at all times, and even if others are forgiving her, she is not close to allowing herself to do the same.

● Your character has a secret they have been sworn to, but revealing this secret could save the lives of countless others. Is it worth breaking the promise to save others, or is betrayal never justifiable?

Given her issues with betrayal, this would wind up being a hard one for her. More than anything, the idea of being hated or resented by someone she cares about is devastating to her. And even when lives were at stake, the fact that the Universal Will, her 'mother', was disguised as an important public figure in the world never left her lips (though it's arguable she didn't know, but she shows no actual shock or surprise when talking to her mother about it in their scenes together).

In the end, I personally think she'd choose to break the promise, but she'd agonize over the decision. And in doing so, despite what many would see as the better income, she'd still carry that guilt with her just as she did with the betrayal mentioned above. Even with her mother, she wanted to believe till the very end that she could be talked out of her ambition, that she was ultimately a good person beneath it all. She believes in the potential of all beings to love.

That kind of informs her view on secrets. Secrets are an expression of trust, and trust is a key component of love. To violate trust defies love, and that's something she'll never be comfortable with.

● Has your character ever gotten joy out of hurting others, physically or mentally? If they have, does it scare them?

Nope. As mentioned above, all of Elphelt's defensive systems she uses are non-lethal, and she only really fights because she is driven to by the plot. The idea of taking some joy from hurting someone else is entirely alien to her. Maybe in terms of sport, or competition, she would definitely want to win, but not if it meant seriously hurting anyone. She has put the hurt on others, but only because she had. She resents violence in general.

All of that might sound contradictory given she comes from a punch game, but it's worth noting that Guilty Gear (at least the Xrd) isn't some tournament or organized competition. In terms of the story and character motivations, for the most part, fights only happen because the situation forces it. El, in particular, actively avoids combat through most of the story in Xrd -SIGN-.

So yeah, there is a definite certainty that she would never find enjoyment in harming others. She fights because she has to, and she's honestly not even capable of intentionally hurting anyone mentally. She may tease Sin and Ramlethal on the occasion, but it's entirely from a place of love, and she's seen real mental abusers like Bedman and her mother in action enough to know she would never want to be the same. No joy in pain. Period.
